HCA Hospitals in Central Florida Raise Over $30,000 for the American Heart Association

Central Florida Regional Hospital and Osceola Regional Medical Center, owned by Healthcare Corporation of America (HCA), raised over $30,000 for the American Heart Association’s annual Heart Walk. Employees at both facilities held fundraisers including a chili cook-off, raffles, car washes and more in an effort to support this valuable organization. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among men and women in the United States.

In addition, Central Florida Regional Hospital and Osceola Regional Medical Center were the sponsors of the American Heart Association’s Lifestyle Change Award. The American Heart Association passed out nomination forms to local businesses throughout the central Florida area in an effort to find people who have made positive changes to improve their quality of life and health. The categories included increased physical activity, healthier eating habits, weight loss and managing heart related risk factors. This year’s recipient is Chris Williams, who far and exceeded each of these expectations. He teaches 10 – 12 Yoga classes a week; has changed his eating habits and lost over 60 pounds in a 10 month period. Because of his exercise, eating habits and weight loss, he no longer needs his cholesterol medicine and his blood pressure has decreased.

“I believe I am in the best condition in my life. I feel great.” said Mr. Williams.
