KISSIMMEE, FLA. (Dec. 2, 2015) - For the first time, The Leapfrog Group has named Osceola Regional Medical Center to its annual Top Hospitals list in the Urban Hospitals category (one of three awarded in the state of Florida). This recognition showcases Osceola Regional's commitment to providing safe, high-quality healthcare. In November, the hospital earned its fifth 'A' in The Leapfrog Group's Hospital Safety Score.
"Osceola Regional strives for continuous improvement and growth to meet the needs of our patients - and earning two such prominent quality awards validates these efforts," said Robert Krieger, CEO of Osceola Regional Medical Center. "Our entire team takes pride in delivering excellent care to residents and visitors of Osceola, Polk and South Orange counties."
The selection is based on the results of The Leapfrog Group's annual hospital survey, which measures performance on patient safety and quality, focusing on three critical areas of care: how patients fare, resource use and management structures established to prevent errors. Performance across many areas of care is considered in establishing the award qualifications, including survival rates for high-risk procedures and ability to prevent medication errors.
"Leapfrog's Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most prestigious distinctions any hospital can achieve in the United States," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "Top Hospitals have lower infection rates, better outcomes, decreased length of stay and fewer readmissions. Osceola Regional has proven it prioritizes patient safety, is committed to transparency and provides exemplary care."
Osceola Regional was among 98 hospitals recognized nationally, including 24 Top Rural Hospitals, 62 Top Urban Hospitals and 12 Top Children's Hospitals. To learn more, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
