Winners of the “Name the Robot” Contest Announced

Kissimmee, Florida – Osceola Regional Medical Center and the robotics team of surgeons selected and announced the ‘Name the Robot’ Contest winner last Saturday, June 4, 2011 during their Robot Summer Event. The selected winner and robot name were announced by Kathryn Gillette, CEO, in the presence of over 300 attendees. Miss Aeryn Ryder, 8 yrs old and Osceola County student, was the recipient of $100 and the guest of honor at the Robot Summer Event. The winner name for the new surgical robot submitted by Miss Ryder was “OSCAR” for “OSCeola Advanced Robotics”.
At the Robot Summer Event, families from the tri-county area brought their children to see the Robot in person and participate in the activities held by Radio Disney, who also raffled four tickets to Disney’s Pop Star Selena Gomez Concert Tickets plus a meet and greet. Miss Calee Sparks, the winner of the coveted tickets was also announced by Radio Disney’s crew at the culmination of the event.
About the Name the Robot Contest:
Kids, 6 to 16 years of age from Osceola, Orange and Polk counties in Florida were invited to submit their entries to name the new surgical robot at Osceola Regional Medical Center for the chance to win $100. Contest began April 25, 2011 and ended May 21, 2011. Over 130 entries were received via mail and online at www. osceolaregional.com\robot. The winner was selected among finalists who were judged by the robotics surgeons at the hospital. The “Name the Robot” winner was the guest of honor and presented with $100 at the Robot Summer Event. The winner robot name “OSCAR” was also announced.
