Employee Benefits

Medical Insurance - HCA's medical program allows you to select the healthcare coverage that you need to build a plan that is right for you.  The medical plan includes coverage for all kinds of medical expenses such as inpatient, outpatient and office visits.  It also includes prescription drug and behavioral health coverage.

Dental Insurance - Good dental care affects more than the way you look.  It affects the way you feel and your overall health.  HCA offers three dental options from which you may choose.  These plans make it easy for you to afford preventive care such as checkups and cleanings.  They also provide benefits to help you pay for other expenses such as fillings, dentures and orthodontics.

Vision Care - This plan offers benefits through a diverse network of optometrists, opthalmologists and opticians (approximately 8,000 locations nationwide).  Members are entitled to a comprehensive vision exam every 12 months and a $110 credit toward the cost of frames every 24 months (or a $100 allowance toward contact lenses).  The plan also provides a 20% savings on PRK and LASIK surgerywith a maximum charge of $1,500 per eye.

Lasik Eye Surgery Discounts - Taking care of your eyes is important.  If you wear glasses or contacts, you may be thinking about laser surgery to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism.  If you are, you can save up to 20% with your employee discount if you choose to have this surgery done at one of the participating surgery centers affiliated with HCA.

Short Term Disability - This plan protects employees from loss of income if they are temporarily disabled because of a non-work related injury.  The plan replaces up to 60% of your income if you are out of work due to a covered illness or injury.  Benefits begin after you have been disabled for 14 days because of an accident or sickness and are payable for up to six months.

Long Term Disability - A disability can affect much more than your health.  It can change practically every part of your life, including your personal finances.  HCA offers long term disability insurance to help protect you from the financial consequences of a disability.  This coverage would replace part of your income if a serious accident or illness leaves you unable to work.  Benefits would be payable after five months of employment.

Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance - Life and accident insurance coverage may help provide financial security for you and your family in case of death or serious injury.  The life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance plan pays a benefit to you if you suffer from certain accidental injuries or to your beneficiary should you die while employed at an HCA-affiliated facility.  You have the option of electing up to six times your annual pay.

Dependent Life Insurance - If you are eligible and elect life insurance coverage for yourself, you may also elect dependent life coverage for your spouse only, eligible children only, or both. 

Long Term Care - This benefit can assist employees in securing their financial future by providing long term care for themselves, their spouse, their parents and/or their parents-in-law.  Employees receive 100% of their benefit for care in nursing facilities or 50% of their benefit for care received in a home care or adult day care setting.

Legal Benefit - This attorney network provides access to a nationwide network of over 9,000 attorneys who provide numerous free and discounted legal services to its members.

HCA Retirement Plan - The retirement plan rewards the employee's commitment to HCA.  The entire cost of the retirement plan is paid for you by the company.  Each year a contribution is automatically made to your retirement account.  The longer you stay with HCA, the more money that is contributed to your retirement account.  Contributions are based on your pay each year and your years of service with the company.  There is a graded seven-year vesting schedule.

HCA 401(K) Plan - This plan gives you a convenient way to save money for retirement, by putting money aside each payroll period.  To help you save, the facility matches 50% on the first 3% of eligible pay that you contribute.  The 401(K) Plan allows you to save money on a before-tax basis, reducing the amount of federal income tax you pay each year.

HCA Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) - The ESPP makes it easy for you to become a shareholder of HCA.  The ESPP is designed to work with the Retirement Plan and the 401(K) Plan by giving you an opportunity to share in the company's potential growth and success.  Twice per year employees have an opportunity to purchase shares of HCA stock at a discount of 15% or more.  You participate through convenient payroll deduction and can sell your shares at any time after they are credited to your account. 

Flexible Spending Accounts - This benefit provides a way to pay for certain healthcare or daycare expenses with before-tax dollars.  Because these contributions are directed before they are legally considered part of your salary, you do not pay federal income taxes on your contributions and the Social Security taxes on these contributions are lower.  You can use these before-tax dollars to reimburse yourself for expenses you incur during the year.

  • The Healthcare Flexible Spending Account helps you pay for eligible expenses (such as medical, cental and vision expenses that are not reimbursed by any insurance and are not itemized on your IRS tax form.
  • The Daycare Flexible Spending Account helps pay for the care of children under age 13 or dependents of any age who are not capable of taking care of themselves.  Covered expenses are those that enable you (and your spouse, if married) to work.

Tuition Assistance Program - Tuition assistance is available for full-time and part-time employees with more than one year of service.  The maximum annual reimbursement for approved courses is $3,000 per calendar year for full-time employees and $1,500 per calendar year for part-time employees.

Adoption Assistance Program - Adopting a child can be a length and emotional process.  It can also be expensive.  Adoption assistance can help you with up to $3,500 of eligible expenses for each child you adopt under the age of 18 who is not your relative or stepchild, or $4,500 for a special needs child.

ConSern Student Loans - Have you been thinking about completing a degree or do you have a child who is about to start college?  ConSern can help you or anyone who is related to you to pay for all education-related expenses, even those from a previous semester or year.  This includes tuition, room and board, books or even a computer.  You can apply at any time during the year and be pre-approved to borrow up to $25,000 while taking up to 15 years to repay the loan.

Direct Deposit - The convenience of direct deposit is available to employees.  Have your payroll check deposited directly in your personal bank or credit union account.

Person Time Off (PTO) Cash-In - Sometimes employees are in need of a little extra cash.  Eligible employees may cash in unused PTO hours at 90% of their base hourly rate twice per calendar year.

Child Care Center Discounts - Child care is usually one of the largest expenses working parents of young children face today.  HCA has negotiated a savings of 10% for children ages 2 and older at local Kindercare and LaPetite Academy centers.

On-Site Banking - Osceola Regional Medical Center provides the convenience of on-site banking through Wachovia Bank.  The bank is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

On-Site Hair Salon - Osceola Regional Medical Center has an on-site hair salon that provides hair styling services at a discounted rate to employees.

Pastoral Care - Pastoral care services are available 24 hours per day to all staff, volunteers, physicians and patients.  The hospital Chapel is conveniently located on the first floor.

Bereavement Leave - Breavement leave up to three days with pay is provided to eligible employees upon the death of an immediate family member.

Jury Duty - Osceola Regional Medical Center acknowledges the duty of employees to comply with a jury duty summons and allows eligible employees to take time off with pay for days spent in jury duty.

Extended Illness Bank (EIB) - EIB time is a full-time employee benefit which provides eligible employees with paid time off when they must be absent from work for more than three consecutive workdays due to their own illness or that of a dependent.

Paid Time Off (PTO) - PTO is a full-time and part-time benefit which combines traditional vacation, holiday and sick time to provide both employees and the company a flexible method of scheduling time off with pay.

Leaves of Absence:

  • Family and Medical Leave of Absence
    Eligible employees may taken an unpaid leave of absence pursuant to the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) if they have been employed by HCA for at least one year and have at least 1,250 hours of service during their 12-month period immediately preceeding the date of the requested leave.  This leave provides that eligible employees are entitled to a total of 12 weeks of unpaid leave during a 12-month period for one or more of the following reasons:
    - Birth of child or placement for adoption or foster care.
    - Serious health condition that renders employee unable to perform the essential functions of his/her job.
    - A serious health condition affecting the employee's spouse, child or parent for whom the employee needs to provide care.
  • Other Leaves of Absence - HCA offers other leaves of absence for eligible employees.  These leaves of absence include general medical leave, maternity leave, education leave, military training leave, active duty leave and personal leave.

Flex Time - With department director approval, employees may have the ability to arrange their hours so that they are flexible enough to meet the employee's personal needs.

Internal Department Transfers - Employees have the opportunity to apply for any internal vacancies for which they possess the qualifications, experience, and abilities necessary to perform the job.  Employees are encouraged to maximize their skills in order to take advantage of opportunities for advancement.  Managers have a continuing responsibility for planning and developing their employees' careers and encouraging self-nomination for more responsible positions within the hospital and/or company.

Education - Many continuing education classes and on-site programs are provided free of charge to employees by our Clinical Nurse Specialist and Educators.
