Welcome From the Program Director

UCF COM/HCA GME Consortium
Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program

Welcome to the University of Central Florida UCF COM/HCA GME Consortium Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program! We are happy that you are considering our program as a potential site to continue your medical training.

Our program was established to provide superior education and training for our residents, as well as to give our patients the best possible medical care. We strongly believe that the success of our program is based on the commitment of our faculty and staff to provide excellence in education and patient care. Our teaching staff is a combination of Doctors of Osteopathic and Allopathic Medicine, (DO’s and MD’s) who use the “hands on” approach to teaching and learning and are eager to share with you their knowledge and experience.

Our residency program is designed to provide residents with exceptional clinical training in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology and its subspecialties through exposure to a diverse patient population which provides ample opportunity for procedures and clinical patient encounters for residents at all levels of training. Resident training is augmented by concentrated experiences with robotic surgery, ultrasound in ambulatory settings, and "office-based" practice. By the end of their training, our residents will be proficient in care of the obstetrical and gynecological patient.

Our program also puts an emphasis on didactic learning. We have daily Morning Report followed by lecture Monday through Friday. Additional didactic sessions include procedure and simulation workshops, preoperative conference, journal club, transition of care and communication workshops, quarterly subspecialty didactic conferences, and monthly interdisciplinary morbidity and mortality conference and tumor conference.

Our residents are expected to play an active role in the residency, including teaching students, lecture presentations and research production. We are committed to providing the residents with all of the necessary resources to lead healthy and successful professional lives. We strive to prepare our residents to succeed in the practice locations of their choice and to be ready for leadership roles in their communities.

It is our hope that you explore the opportunities that are offered to become part of our exceptional team. You are about to make a decision that will influence the rest of your life. We hope the program information that you find on our site will help you discover the atmosphere of teamwork and professionalism we strive to create.

Sincerely,
