How to act on your results

What can you do to prevent a stroke or TIA?

You can change many of the conditions in the quiz through diet and exercise. Others may need medication or other medical interventions. Your best defense is knowledge. Talk to your doctor about stroke prevention, then work together to develop a plan that’s right for you. Remember, the more risk factors you have, the greater the risk of having a stroke.

Risk factors that cannot be changed include heredity and race, gender, age, and having had a previous stroke or heart attack.
