Joint replacement surgery
Joint replacement can help many people with joint pain return to active, full lives. Joint replacement surgery offers several benefits to patients, such as:
- Improving quality of life
- Reducing pain
- Restoring movement to the joint
Joint replacement candidates
You may be a good candidate for joint replacement surgery if:
- Your joint flexibility and range is limited
- You experience daily pain
- You've tried medication and non-surgical treatments—such as braces, mobility aids (walkers or canes) or injection therapy—with no relief
Total and partial knee replacement
Our orthopedic surgeons perform total and partial knee replacement (knee resurfacing) surgery to treat damaged knee joints.
Total knee replacement caps the ends of all the bones that form the knee joint.
A partial knee replacement or resurfacing replaces only the damaged part of the knee joint with a prosthetic implant. It allows significant bone preservation and may offer faster recovery time.
Total hip replacement and hip resurfacing
We offer total hip replacement and partial hip replacement (hip resurfacing) options.
Total hip replacement surgery removes the ball and socket of the hip joint and replaces them with prosthetic implants.
Hip resurfacing involves removing the ball of the hip joint and replacing it with a prosthesis. The socket is not replaced. The difference between the total hip replacement and hip resurfacing is femoral head size (highest part of the thigh bone). In hip resurfacing, the femoral head is larger, increasing the new joint's stability and decreasing the possibility of dislocation.
Total shoulder replacement
We offer shoulder replacement surgery, which involves replacing the upper part of the arm bone and socket in the shoulder joint with metal or plastic materials.
Having back issues can be debilitating. Our Spine Care Center staff, including orthopedic surgeons, nurses and other professionals, are dedicated to helping you. The team diagnoses and treats a variety of spinal conditions, from slipped discs to pinched nerves.
